Eleven

Eleven years ago today, on the first day of spring, my son and daughter were born.  Yes, I'm the proud mama of twins!

The prompts from Sunday Scribblings (big) and The March Challenge (birth) were perfectly apropos for what I wanted to say:

To my Son and Daughter, on their Eleventh Birthday

How on earth, from the time of your birth,
to this day, eleven years later

did you get so grown and so full blown
while my love grows ever greater.

###

Here's to more happy birthdays and more reasons to celebrate! ♥

  5. Actually, I only have one, but she's 22. Isn't that sort of the same as having two 11-year-olds? Or is that too Hugh Hefner in the math!?

  6. As a father, grandfather and great-grandfather, I can understand your pride. At eleven they DO seem so grown up, don't they!

  10. Children are the gifts that keep on giving. If you can survive the teenage years, it won’t be long before you have grandchildren and get to start all over again. Grandchildren are a joy beyond belief.

  13. Congratulations! I always think the mothers should get the presents and congratulations on their kids' birthdays! We did all the work.

And aside from all that, great poem. Childhood goes real fast, enjoy it... and that promises to follow!

  20. Thanks, Mike! I'm glad your grandchildren are so cool! With two eleven year olds (and no other kids) I hope that grandchildren are still aways off, 'though! ☼
