The prompts from Sunday Scribblings (big) and The March Challenge (birth) were perfectly apropos for what I wanted to say:
To my Son and Daughter, on their Eleventh Birthday
How on earth, from the time of your birth,
to this day, eleven years later
did you get so grown and so full blown
while my love grows ever greater.

Happy birthday to your babies, RJ and many more to come!

Parents (including me) cannot believe how clever they are to produce babies. We must keep celebrating that gift of life. Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteTWINS! Wow, that's batch cooking at its finest. Happy birthday to the Eleven from Heaven duo! Amy
ReplyDeleteActually, I only have one, but she's 22. Isn't that sort of the same as having two 11-year-olds? Or is that too Hugh Hefner in the math!?
ReplyDeleteGorgeous :)
ReplyDeleteThat's so cute :)
ReplyDeleteAs a father, grandfather and great-grandfather, I can understand your pride. At eleven they DO seem so grown up, don't they!

ReplyDeleteAw, how sweet! Happy birthday to your twins!
ReplyDeleteSweet as a slice of birthday cake..I hope you all enjoyed the day and your children enjoyed your words..Jae
ReplyDeleteChildren are the gifts that keep on giving. If you can survive the teenage years, it won’t be long before you have grandchildren and get to start all over again. Grandchildren are a joy beyond belief.
ReplyDeleteTerrific tribute to those two kids... and the love of their mother.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday to your twins! What a wonderful way to honor them.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! I always think the mothers should get the presents and congratulations on their kids' birthdays! We did all the work.
ReplyDeleteAnd aside from all that, great poem. Childhood goes real fast, enjoy it... and that promises to follow!

ReplyDeleteJaeRose - thank you so much! ☼
ReplyDeleteThanks, Mike! I'm glad your grandchildren are so cool! With two eleven year olds (and no other kids) I hope that grandchildren are still aways off, 'though! ☼
