Ah...I couldn't resist that little bit of wickedness! (Defying gravity...♪♫♪♫...)
Anyway, I penned a few poems this AM, in order to try and catch up (as the title of today's post obviously suggests.) The first two poems, each a 5/7/5 haiku, were inspired by prompts by SiS/Few Miles. The third poem was created based on the Three Word Wednesday prompt: 'dare, practical and essence.'

What Her Cat Is Thinking
Look at her sleeping.
She should get up and feed me.
I think I shall pounce.

Essence, Dare and Practical
So then, dare I say
the essence of rules syntactical
are anymore, not quite practical
with texting today?

RJ, I love "Essence dare and practical" my husband and I were
ReplyDeletejust discussing this today.
btw (ha!) Are you a New Yorker?
I am from the Manhattan and lived
for quite a few years on Long Island.
Pamela
Thanks, Pamela! Actually, I was born and raised in Philadelphia, but I lived in New York for quite a number of years before moving to New Jersey. So cool that you are from New York!
ReplyDeleteRJ, leave it to you to get all three words into one funny, concise, TRUE poem! Loved this. Hey, y'all, I was a Manhattanite for years, Upper Left Side!

"What Her Cat Is Thinking"
ReplyDeleteThis tickles me so ... I have 8 of them, and I KNOW they are thinking these exact sentiments when I ignore their 3 am wake-up-call to entice me to get up and feed them early. Thanks for the lift!
Hi, I liked all three but, being a cat person, that one really gelled with me. Did you really just 'toss them off' AM. WOW!
ReplyDeleteWhat the cat is thinking, marvelous. I'm still laughing.
ReplyDeleteGreat work! I enjoyed reading cat thoughts and the 3WW question piece... totally on the mark!
ReplyDeleteLoved them all. The first two for making us laugh and the last for echoing our frustration at getting older!
ReplyDeleteLoved them all. I certainly don't want to know what my feline friends are thinking!
ReplyDeleteSheilagh lee said very nice how you managed to get all in
ReplyDeletethey are fabulous RJ, but tell me, do all cats do it?
ReplyDeleteI thought only mine are expert in conveying their inconvenient messages precisely.

Thanks Amy - and I see you are one of the 'cool' ones, too! ☼
ReplyDeleteBecca - 8??? Wow! Well then, I guess you know, huh? ;-D
ReplyDeleteOld Altonian - thanks! and yep, I did. For my 'humorous' poetry, that's how I usually do it. I ♥ wordplay, so I just go with an idea and see what I come up with.
ReplyDeleteMike - thank you so much!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, tlwtc!!!
ReplyDeleteOld Egg - indeed, that's so. And thanks!
ReplyDeleteNTX ... thx - and lol!!!
ReplyDeleteSheilagh Lee - thanks you so much!
ReplyDeleteTrisha - thanks! And to tell you the truth, I don't know for sure, but that's what my dog says - and she is a pretty reliable source. hehe
ReplyDeleteHahahaha, "What her cat was thinking" is awesome, always wonder what my cat thinks as she looks at me!! Excellent!
ReplyDeleteRJ, I don't have words..
ReplyDeleteSomeone is Special
