Happy New Year's Day!

Happy 2011 to Everyone!

Writer's Island, in keeping with the bright and cheery New Year's trend, gave the word 'Embark' as their first prompt for the year.  A good word, right?  Now, I'm not sure why a Double Dactyl came to mind for this particular poem, but there you are.

New Year’s Resolutions

Higgeldy Jiggeldy
Let’s all embark upon
great resolutions we
know we can’t keep

even ‘though we’ll try hard
‘cause we’ll eat too much and
then oversleep.

  1. What a sweet little poem, RJ.

I have never gotten into the New Year's resolution thing--why set myself up for disappointment. :)

    Happy New Year!

  2. Thanks - and yeah, me too, bodhirose! ☼

  3. I gave up on resolutions many years ago, because I found I was annually depressed by the end of January, beginning of Febuary. All because I had once again proven myself a failure, lol. Now, I just look forward to whatever comes and hope I can handle it. Do like your poem, especially that last line which is so true,

  4. very honest poem, i don't think anyone really kepps their new years resolutions, it's just setting yourselfup for failure. happy new year! :)

  5. lol...nice poem..I could sense more truth in it :)

  6. Thank you to Elizabeth. slightlywacky (love that name!) and uma.a - and yep, you're right. I never make resolutions, for the obvious reasons. ☼

  7. this little ditty was wrapped up perfectly, because we all do. And those who do not will always think about it:) Thank you so much for visiting my site, I look forward to perusing yours.

    Have a great new year!

    Daniel J.

  8. This is fun, true, and a lesson to be learned. I'd forgotten about double dactyls - a good foot for a train journey!
