Writer's Island, in keeping with the bright and cheery New Year's trend, gave the word 'Embark' as their first prompt for the year. A good word, right? Now, I'm not sure why a Double Dactyl came to mind for this particular poem, but there you are.
New Year’s Resolutions
Higgeldy Jiggeldy
Let’s all embark upon
great resolutions we
know we can’t keep
even ‘though we’ll try hard
characteristically,
‘cause we’ll eat too much and
then oversleep.

What a sweet little poem, RJ.
ReplyDeleteI have never gotten into the New Year's resolution thing--why set myself up for disappointment. :)
Happy New Year!
Thanks - and yeah, me too, bodhirose! ☼
ReplyDeleteI gave up on resolutions many years ago, because I found I was annually depressed by the end of January, beginning of Febuary. All because I had once again proven myself a failure, lol. Now, I just look forward to whatever comes and hope I can handle it. Do like your poem, especially that last line which is so true,

ReplyDeleteHave a great new year!

This is fun, true, and a lesson to be learned. I'd forgotten about double dactyls - a good foot for a train journey!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Daniel J and Viv! ☼
