Sepia Saturday posted this wonderful picture from 1910 of the booking office for the London & North Western Railway Company in Waterford, Ireland.
It brought to mind Edwardian era ladies in long dresses and men in suits and duster coats, arriving and departing for a world of different purposes or reasons. In this, I saw a story - and one fellow's letter (written in the poetic form
Novelinee) tells the rest of
his tale.
We have lost the touch of the pen and the notepad. You have put it up so nicely.Greatly enjoyed the lines and the response.

Despite whatever hurt feelings the message might cause, it's much better penned on real paper than as a text message.
ReplyDeleteFor a dear Joan letter, you let 'er down lightly. That picture surely sparked a good period piece.
ReplyDeleteThe thing I like so much about images is that they can say so much and with such economy of style. And the same can be said of your message : there is such a story behind it and you leave us to fill in the gaps with our own imagination.
ReplyDeleteA poignant note to link to the photo. Noone seems to write letters anymore even if they are saying farewell.
ReplyDeleteI stopped by to congratulate you for your Honorable Mention in last week's Limerick-Off! Great job! Limerick of the Week 27
ReplyDeleteYour composition helps to populate a shop/office sadly bereft of customers.
ReplyDeleteCreative and very touching, RJ. I'll have to look into that form. Thanks for sharing.
