Little Cat Feet

Where is the Cat?

…yeah… it was three o’clock in the morning
and as per usual, I was awake,
so I wished that I were a feral cat.

No matter the consequence, it’s the cat
who chases stars in the night, ‘til morning
comes.  Then she packs away her games, awake

no more.  I want to leave stars in my wake;
stars that come on little cat feet…a cat
who finds peaceful slumbers in the morning.

Morning comes and I am still awake…but I wonder…where is the cat?

Word Contortions

Interesting prompts abound this morning!  And interesting responses to these prompts abound too!  Check out the links to the sites if you want to read more great writing!

Sis/Few Miles provided the word 'Solitude' as inspiration for penning haiku, and Magpie Tales presented a crystalline photographic study to serve as a gentle nudge for my muse to get me to write a tritina.

Bacon Logic

Whosoever is delighted in solitude is either a wild beast or a god. ~Francis Bacon Sr., English Lawyer and Philosopher, 1561 – 1626

I am not a god.
I delight in solitude.
Ergo, I’m a beast?

Contortionism in Crystal

Light bends itself in the crystal
like a swirl, a shape - or a face.
Ask yourself this – what do you see?

Is it movement?  The letter ‘C’
or is it something else?  Crystal
can urge and compel you to face

that which lurks beneath the surface,
like the magic under the sea.
What do you see in the crystal?

If you gaze into the crystal’s facets long enough, there are unexpected things you might see.

(Please note, for the second image, the original crystal photo, as posted by Magpie Tales, was pristine.  I overlaid it with another photograph using PhotoShop because I 'saw' a Cirque du Soleil artist swirled within its etched edges.  I was fortunate enough to see a live Cirque du Soleil performance a few years ago, and happily, I will be in the audience for another of their productions later this year!)
