Daffodil
Here’s to the yellow daffodil.
You thrive in spring, at least, until
the summer weather gets much warmer.
Then you'll be a flower, former.

Note: One of the prompts from Big Tent Poetry is to write about something that we love in nature. Every spring, in early spring, the tulips and daffodils pop up on my front lawn. I don't have to do anything to make this occur [which is probably a very good thing, all things considered] - it just happens.
As the tulips and daffodils start to fade, the irises show their blue-purply selves briefly, and then the day lilies and stargazer lilies blaze their vibrant colors in its place, to kick off the summer season. It's all so pretty - and I just love it.
The above poem is just me trying to be funny.
