Three 5/7/5 (Faux) Haiku

As I mentioned yesterday, February is the Haiku-a-thon month.  In keeping that form-theme going, I'm posting a triple threat today.  Now, I realize I am really writing the 'school-5/7/5' stuff, but as my poet friend Cara Holman says, "...there's a place for both kind of haiku."  I totally agree - and thanks!

Few Miles posted a photograph today for inspiration:

One moment she’s born
and in the blink of an eye
dreams become full-grown

3 Word Wednesday posted, "abrasive, handful and loss," for its prompt:

That wood’s such a loss.
Too-abrasive sandpaper ~
handful of sawdust.

and finally, We Write Poems wants to see what we'd do with a 'Bucket List'...

  12. Danny - thank you so much!

I went over to your blog - and I really liked your latest haiku (dust-devils) but there wasn't a place for me to leave a comment, so I guess this will have to suffice for now. ☼

    Nicely strung together.

  17. Ah, but if you had a longer life you would also want to have a healthy life! Most important!

I love the haiku. So true. Children grow so quickly! TOO quickly. You captured it so well.

  19. Mary - thanks. And also, you are so right. I wouldn't want to live longer if the quality of my life was pain and unhealthiness.

As for kids growing up too fast, boy ain't that the truth!

  21. Great Haikus. Mind you wishing for the genie and asking for more besides seems a little greedy.

  22. RJ, the handful of sawdust from 3WW is great stuff. You have that knack for creating vivid images from a handful of words!

  24. Oh, they are great! I enjoyed them all, very much!

  25. OldEgg - thanks! I would tend to agree with you, but if I get a genie, then asking for stuff (or even more stuff) seems to be the point.

At least, that's what genie legend suggests. ☼
